FIRST PLACE WINNER — YOLANDA AND WAYNE SMITH IN QUEEN YA YA
Lake Interlochen’s 2016 Independence Day Boat Parade was a splashing success. There were 14 boats and more backyard spectators than ever.
Residents applauded co-directors Mike Saliba and Ken Simoneaux for organizing the patriotic chaos of red, white and blue vessels of all shapes and sizes.
Grand Marshals for this year’s parade were Jennifer and Jim Haskell. They rode in Rose Marie and Ken Seipel’s boat. Also on board were last year’s Grand Marshals, Francis and Vernon Porter.
The Haskells, the Seipels, and the Porters moved into Interlochen the first and second year of the new subdivision. The three families have contributed so much over the 40 plus years to make the neighborhood the wonderful place it is today.
Winning entries in the boat parade were:
First place — Yolanda & Wayne Smith
Second place – Ken Simoneaux
Third place – Kim & Dan Clement
