Meeting Minutes – May 11, 2020

Lake Interlochen HOA Board Meeting
May 11, 2020 @ Sobel residence

ATTENDING: Ralph Sobel, Ken Seipel, Nancy Weaver, Bruce Turner, Brenda Cubbage, Tony Lester, Roger Pendleton, Bryan Keathley, Chris Slauter   ABSENT: Dot Wightman

Meeting called to order by President Sobel at 7 p.m. Minutes of last meeting, March 9, 2020, were approved.

Secretary Pendleton reported the website continues to be smooth and the Spring/Summer 2020 Directory is ready for final review before being emailed to residents later this month.

Treasurer Turner reported financials are fine. As of April 30, the HOA had a bank balance of $179,079, March through April expenses were $1,774 and were $7,849 for the first four months of 2020. Two HOA members have not paid their dues and liens will be placed on their residences.

Architecture Chair Cubbage reported a Loch Lomond backyard project was approved.

Water Committee Chair Lester reported water level is right where it should be. He and our maintenance man Brian Bayne inspected the inflow and outflow systems; both operating as designed. Water testing is planned for this week. The North Channel fountain was swapped for the spare and was pressure cleaned, ready for use if need be.

The lake was re-stocked with 155 pounds of tilapia on May 4, with five distribution points throughout the lake. A professional beaver trapper, Michael Trpkosh of Dallas, has been hired and will be placing traps in one targeted location in the Old Channel. His cost is $400 per beaver; no charge if he’s not successful.

Lester’s assessment is that the West Channel end and North Channel end will need dredging this year and is working on obtaining bids for the work.  He noted places, primarily in the Old Channel, that have tree limbs hanging too low over the water. Of significant concern to the HOA Board is the speeding of some boats, violating the no-wake rule. Boats going too fast are creating waves that are damaging retaining walls and causing erosion problems to natural shorelines. Directors urge boaters to slow down and enjoy the beautiful scenery of Lake Interlochen.

Next board meeting was set for July 20. Meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
