July 4th 2021 was simply a beautiful evening for the Lake Interlochen community. Beauty blessed the 16th annual Lake Interlochen Independence Day Boat Parade as the weather was beautiful, the decorated boats were beautiful, and even the costumed participants and spectators were beautiful. (Remember, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.) Backyard spectators along the route and those gathered on Westwood and Loch Lomond were treated to a spectacular red, white and blue display. Brenda Cubbage was honored as Grand Marshal. She joins the distinguished list of Grand Marshals: Vernon Porter, Jim Haskell, Carole Findlay, Ken Seipel, Roger Pendleton and Ralph Sobel. Boat parade directors Mike Saliba and Ken Simoneaux noted that many of the16 boats were jam packed with families and friends who were participants instead of spectators. America the Beautiful, indeed.
