The annual Independence Day Boat Parade, begun in 2005, features a holiday of floating fun and festivities for Interlochen residents and guests. Decorated with patriotic pride, boats of every size, kayaks and canoes wind through the waterways, cheered on by backyard crowds along the route. The celebration of American freedom continues well after the parade ends, with homeowners and guests partying into the night.
The annual Christmas Boat Parade is an evening display of holiday decoration and illumination on the waterways. Residents, bundled up on their pontoon boats, kayaks and canoes, hear shouts of “Merry Christmas” from backyards along the route as carols echo across the channels.
Residents also participate in a Mardi Gras boat parade and an Easter Boat Parade. A Halloween Boat Parade is in the works.
